About Home Office Furniture
If you have a room to dedicate to a home office, then you have the opportunity to create an interesting, stylish, yet functional room. With thousands of furniture pieces, lamps and decorative objects to choose from, just select a style that fits into your home decorating plan and you’ll be on your way. The central focus for a home office can be the desk, bookcases or seating area.
You’ll know when you’ve found that perfect piece that will grab center stage in the room. Maybe it will be an awesome desk. From antique to contemporary modern desks to choose from, there’s one that suits every design style. When it comes to function, whether you need a computer desk, writing desk or larger traditional office desk with credenza, the selection may be surprising and anything but boring. Perhaps the bookshelves will provide your focal point if they’ve of an unexpected shape or color.
If possible, add seating to the room. Whether you want to sit back and take a break from work or welcome a visitor, upholstered chairs with ottomans, a loveseat or a chaise lounge make a home office more comfortable and inviting. And with seating you’ll need end tables and perhaps a coffee table.
Lighting is one of the most important elements in a home office. You’ll need task lighting like desk lamps, reading lamps for the sitting area or floor lamps. Table lamps for a console or occasional tables will add style as well as additional lighting. And finally, give your office some extra personality and charm with a chandelier or pendant lights. A plug-in chandelier might be perfect for a cozy corner of the room.
Don’t forget the accessories, like throw pillows, decorative objects for tables and shelves or a wall or desk clock. Have fun, plan well, choose wisely and your home office will be both functional and stylish.

Contemporary Table Lamp Goes Retro
If you're going modern or contemporary in your living room or entry, ceramic table lamps may be the first ones that come to mind, but we've found something that takes retro lamps in an entirely different direction.
First of all, we know about lamps around here, but I didn't have any idea that recycled aluminum could be handspun to make the body of a contemporary table lamp. But, that exactly what Babette Holland did with her Green Striped Gemini Table Lamp. Not only is the body spun aluminum but it's done in brown and green stripes. No two are exactly alike. The designer says they are reminiscent of 1950s drink tumblers. Topped with a gold silk shade, the Gemini Table Lamp is perfect for a modern interior.
Just imagine this lamp or a pair of them on a long sleek table in the foyer? Or, think about showing them off at either end of a cool green or chocolate velvet sofa. This is a retro look that's showing up again in today's rooms.

When you're looking for the absolutely perfect lamp among the many beautiful modern desk lamps think outside the box. Your special light may be found among the halogen desk lamps that are part desk lamp and part exciting art. It's easy to see why the Blue Desk Lamp is part of the Dancer Collection. Sleek and modern, with a curvy center stem in polished steel finish that holds two blue glass shades, this lamp would be beautiful on a glam mirrored desk or dressing table. A beautiful light for any woman's modern bedroom.

Waterfall Faucets Make an Impression
If a regular faucet just won't do, maybe it's time to turn to one of today's minimalist bath faucets. Among the latest sensations in the bathroom fixture world are waterfall faucets from which the water flows not in a single stream, but spread out by the fixture to mimic the tumble of a waterfall. They're meant to impress and they do.
The Price Pfister Kenzo GT49DF0K Bathroom Faucet is one of the many great designs available from StylePath. The faucet waterfall trough and handles are deceptively simplistic in design. Sleek, contemporary and stylish lines make this faucet the perfect companion for one of the modern shallow square sinks that are so popular right now.

Reading Lamps as Sculpture
With your mind floating in a sea of formal and casual floor lamps, it can be difficult to spot something so totally unique in reading lamps that it immediately grabs your attention. Not to despair. Along comes the Planar One-Light Arc Light to spark your interest.
From its marble base (the weight prevents the lamp from tipping over) to its brushed nickel and dark brown stem and arm, ending with an elegant white linen shade, more than anything this floor lamp resembles a modern sculpture. We can't think of a more perfect reading lamp for the corner of a contemporary living room—the epitome of beauty and function. Don't need a reading light, then think focal point and dramatic style statement and forget the functionality. Works for us.

Bankers Lamps and Dragonflies
An updated whimsical take on the iconic brass bankers lamps with their green shades, the Dale Tiffany Dragonfly Banker's Lamp combines a bit of history and a touch of art deco. Its history comes from the weary banking accountants who worked the night through, bringing order their ledger books by the light of those green-shaded lamps during the 1800s. One of StylePath's many glass desk lamps, the Dragonfly Lamp has a beautiful verdigris finish tree and leaf base accented with a single colorful dragonfly. The glass favrile glass shade in yellow and green and the ball pull chain complete this Dale Tiffany designed desk lamp.

Computer Desks with Good Looks
Home office desks haven't always had the best reputation for offering great interior decorating style, but that's changing. Computer desks, especially those designed with laptops in mind can definitely make a contribution to the good looks of a room.
We discovered the Riverside Medley Laptop Computer Desk that doesn't really look like a desk at all. Perfect in a home office, family room or a bedroom, this piece of furniture would work well with a contemporary handmade style interior. It's made of distressed Mindi hardwood and veneers, accented by woven raffia on the drawers and shows off stylish twisted metal legs and marble marquetry on top. This is one desk that doesn't sacrifice beauty for functionality.

Glass Desks with Computer Storage
Some glass desks come off looking cheap and don’t provide the design to handle a computer or a place to keep your keyboard. However, we found a maker of contemporary modern desks who took into consideration our home office desk needs. This one handles a computer as that is the main activity we perform at our desks. The Wildon Home Ritter Glass Desk with a cappuccino base has a rack to hold the computer tower and a pullout keyboard drawer making it a stylish and practical choice.

Nostalgic Tiffany Table Lamps
One of the most enduring antique table lamp styles is the Tiffany table lamp. Louis Comfort Tiffany originally developed Tiffany stained glass beginning in 1878, but today the term Tiffany lamps is used loosely, generally referring to any lamp designed with a shade done in the Tiffany stained glass style. Modern versions may or may not be made entirely of glass.
For example, the John Timberland Mica Tiffany Style Mission Table Lamp is topped by a shade made of glass and mica formed into a beautiful geometric pattern. The shading and pattern of the mica contribute to the unique look of this lighting piece.
Called a Tiffany style lamp, it combines that stained glass look with mission style in the shape of the shade and the design of the wood base. The night light built into the base adds functionality and an extra touch of beauty to the lamp. We think this one would look great in a mission style home office.

Traditional Floor Lamps with a Twist
Schonbek designers were certainly thinking out of the traditional floor lamps box when they created the Crystal Six Light Floor Lamp for their Rose Collection. They took the incredible look of one of the Rose Collection chandeliers and fashioned it into what can only be called a magnificent floor lamp. Instead of hanging from the ceiling, this six light chandelier is on top of a floor lamp base.
The beauty of crystal raindrops, faceted crystal beads and lovely green crystal leaves decorating multiple clear crystal vases make this lamp a true showpiece. There are several choices available in finishes and crystals.
The company suggests two options, "You can treat this lamp as a statuesque floor candelabrum with exposed candles, or order the optional granny shades for a nouveau Victorian flavor." The shades are sold separately.
Whether you choose to use this lamp in the bedroom or formal living room, we think you'll smile every time you pass by.

Decorative Clocks: Uttermost Cason Wall Clock
Decorative clocks don't seem to be on the top of many interior decorating wish lists today. It's a shame really because there are lots of great pieces that can add a decorative focal point in most any room. Perhaps we don't think much about clocks because time is at hand continuously--on our televisions, computer screens and cell phones.
In the past wood clocks were just about the only choice. Now, we can find beautiful designs in many materials. Wood is still a favorite, but metals and synthetics are readily available in many shapes and sizes.
The Uttermost Cason Wall Clock in Chestnut Brown is a good example of a wood clock that is large enough at 30" across to become an interesting feature in an entry or dining room. It would look great above a sideboard in the dining room or a long table in the foyer. The Uttermost Cason with its scooped frame design in distressed chestnut brown wood veneer and antiqued gold details is designed by Grace Feyock.

Surprising Storage Benches
Modern benches offer some surprises, especially some of the updated storage benches. For those of us who fit simultaneously into two categories, people who collect "stuff" and those who entertain often, storage benches solve two problems. They give us much needed storage space and extra seating. It seems many of us never have enough of either.
The surprise comes when you see these stylish, modern benches and how many of them are designed from a different perspective, with a twist on the type of storage they offer. For example, the Bench with File Drawers from Home Decorators Collection takes extra seating into the home office. As a bonus, under its plush comfy seating are two file drawers for all that extra paperwork that constantly clutters up your workspace. Choose from black, red, Moroccan brown or eggplant cushions.
For all the other rooms in your home, you'll find many storage benches among StylePath's more than 1,000 modern benches.

Not sure why, but casual ottomans, especially leather ottomans, seem to be a favorite topic of decorating conversations right now. Maybe we're just ready to take the time to put our feet up and relax. If that's the case, we'll all be looking for an ottoman that fits into our interior style. What might we expect to find?
- Budget - No problem, great choices in all price ranges

Wine Cabinets Double as Dining Room Buffets
Not caught up in the current wine collecting trend? Once you take a look at all the great looking wine cabinets currently available you just might decide to start a very small collection of your own. Another perfect reason to bring home one of these stylish new cabinets is they could double as dining room buffets. Wine cabinets are not all rustic wood any more. Lots of them are updated modern versions of yesterday's wine storage racks and cabinets.
Speaking of updated and stylish, take a look at this gorgeous piece of furniture--the Artists Originals Parisian Striped Console/Wine Cabinet is oh so French and fun. With hand-painted wide stripes and antique brass finished knobs, this cabinet will be the center of attention in any room.
The Parisian would look terrific in a sunny breakfast nook along with a wire bistro set or long-skirted table and chairs with slightly curved legs.

Incorporate Torchieres in Your Traditional Decor
To light a dark corner or make a statement in a large entry room in pairs, torchieres achieve these and many other interior design objectives. Traditional floor lamps, also known as torch lamps, started out as candelabras often boasting two to three lights atop a tall wood or metal stand.
The design was introduced to France in the late 17th century and by that time accommodated just one candle. These lights were considered revolutionary in lighting large rooms when the number of candles was increased.
Today’s torchiere still offers ample uplight and traditional styling, but instead of candles, it is all electric. For instance, the Tendril Three-light Torchiere is reminiscent of its candle-lit predecessors with its Scavo candle-shaped shades and the nature-inspired motif of its bronze finished steel triple stand. Scavo glass undergoes a multi-step process which creates a diffused glow when lit, similar to that of candle light. This beauty would compliment a traditional or country decor.

With contemporary good looks and sleek design, Lite Source’s Flat Head LED Desk Lamps stands tall above other modern desk lamps. LED is short for “light-emitting diode,” or more simply put, a semiconductor light source with high intensity brightness. What does this mean for you?
The Flat Head lamp will give you bright lighting you can’t get from a standard lamp for your home office projects or your business office. The disc base and matching head stretched atop telescopic metal arms allows you to adjust lighting to suit your needs. It is available in three bright and bold hues: lime green, sky blue and orange. The colors and design make it a stylish addition to a modern or contemporary office, library or dorm room.

Home Office Desks Just for You
Depending on our home situation, some of us just need a little space all our own. We don’t even require a whole room, just an area where we can keep our important papers, magazines we haven’t had a chance to thumb through or just to sit and daydream. Many home office desks are bulky and require a big area and even then they don’t have drawer space. To create the perfect area requires lots of cubbies, drawer space and a way to keep it all neat and tidy. The Amalia Secretary Desk has all of this and more.
Handcrafted out of solid wood and hand-painted in a feminine blue, rose and ivory design with mint green foliage, the Amalia is not only charmingly pretty it is completely functional as a writing desk, drawing desk or simply a place to pay bills. Make it your own special area for whatever you fancy.

Discover Ashley Furniture on StylePath
I read somewhere the other day about Ashley Furniture being the #1 furniture seller in North America, which led me to wonder why. Well, apparently according to their website they “sell top-quality furniture at incredibly low prices.” They are able to do this for a number of reasons: They streamlined their design, production and delivery process by cutting out the middleman in all of these areas. They have their own furniture designers on staff, they keep limited warehouse space at their Ashley furniture home stores and fill orders from regional warehouse locations which they deliver with their own fleet of trucks.
Ok, so they’ve apparently got the quality and price down, but do they have great looking furniture designs? What styles do they carry? If I wanted to go full out modern with only Ashley furniture designs could I? Or contemporary or traditional? I remember running across a few pieces of their furniture on StylePath so I thought, I would investigate further.
Wow! Here’s what I found—we have 44 pages of Ashley furniture in every style, design and price point for every room of the house. I’ve found some beautiful pieces I would love to take home with me. Take a look at our Ashley Furniture pages for yourself.

Classic Leather Living Room Furniture
There’s nothing quite like a lovingly-worn vintage Chesterfield sofa, with its deep creases and softly patinaed patches, but every Chesterfield has to start somewhere. If you are on the hunt for “just so” leather living room furniture then look no further than the reproduction of the true classic Chesterfield leather sofa by Timothy Oulton.
With its deep tufting, perky rolled arms and no less than 1,500 hand-hammered brass studs and count them, 85 buttons, this leather sofa is begging to go home with you. Just imagine sinking back into its deep set cushions, already supple and distressed, to give it that lived in look and feel you would spend years of lounging on it to accomplish.
This Chesterfield will give your other livingroom furniture the classy companion it’s been pining for. Your search is over— this is the “just so” sofa you’ve been looking for all along.

Orange Men's Watches Make Great Gifts
While I was making my way around StylePath today, I ran across all the terrific choices we have in watches for men. I noticed every watch that caught my eye was either all orange or had orange detailing to it. So I picked a few I thought you might like to see. If you need a great gift idea for a significant other or another male in your life, a new watch should just hit the spot. Something about a man wearing a good looking men’s watch is quite dashing. Take a look at these gorgeous orange watches from Tommy Bahama, Bulova and St Moritz.

Funkier than Funky Dining Chairs For Fun
These ultra modern funky dining chairs really are show stoppers with their black vinyl tuxedo design and chrome legs. The contoured back and well-padded seat will give you hours of comfort during long dinners with friends or playing Jinga into the wee hours of the morning. You can’t beat the price at $228.14 for a set of four! Pair them with an all white rectangular table for a really dressed up look.
This funkier than funky dining chair is named a Cradle Chair but it seems a "ghost chair" is more befitting. Made from clear acrylic, it has 50s inspired retro chrome legs and seat supports. It will look great around a solid black or chrome table accented with a bright red or yellow.

Pink Seven Sofa and Betsey Johnson
Not all ladies love pink, especially in our decor. I was on the fence about it until I saw these great shots of the absolutely splendid pink apartment Betsey Johnson designed (is there anything this woman can’t do?) A little pink goes a long way, but a lot of pink goes on for miles! I got curious to see what pink pieces we have on StylePath, so here is a living room sofa that's bold and pink, it would surely get the nod from Ms. Johnson herself.

Color Lovers Go Neutral
Here's a bit of design advice for all you color lovers out there. If you have a thing for color (the brighter the better, you say?) then choose your bigger upholstered pieces (sofas, lounge chairs, settees and living room chairs) in neutrals of beige, taupe, ivory, white, gray and black. Pairing big neutral pieces with favorite or trending colors has become a popular practice as we look to design in more budget conscience ways.
With a neutral canvas in place, you can go wild with a colorful palette you love for accessories, art, accent pieces and walls. If you like things to be fresh and exciting, a neutral base allows you to change things up according to seasonal trends or on a whim. You’ll never get bored with your décor again.
Design Tip: Nothing is bland about neutral tones when you know how to use them to their best advantage. If you tend to like cooler colors such as blue, green and violet then go with a white that has a cool bluish undertone. If you like warmer colors like red, orange and yellow then choose a white with a warmer yellow undertone.
Here's a neutral sofa furniture line-up you can't go wrong with...
This white Italian leather sofa is artistically tufted with matching buttons.
Fabric upholstered sofa in gray with black walnut wood finish and antique brass casters.
Designer sofa from Seyhan Ozdemir & Sefer Caglar for De La Espada.
Corbu black leather sofa with full leather Italian upholstery.
