Black and White Area Rugs for a Dramatic Look

Rugs work great to provide warmth to a hard surfaced floor or adding color to an otherwise dull room, but these black and white rugs provide a graphical touch that is bold and dramatic beyond what other rugs can accomplish.

The black and white combination isn’t relegated to a modern style decor though. Danielle Myers of Elle Designs spoke with The Design File about it recently. She says, “Using a color palette of black and white transfers to a variety of design styles and feels: Contemporary, traditional, transitional, even shabby chic.”

In addition to being versatile and eye catching, a black and white area rug is a classic choice which will last past other trends or fads. Here are a few we came across when scouring the web for the most stylish black and white rugs on the web.

What Do the French and Swedish Have in Common?

Wisteria Linen European Furniture - Natural Linen Settee W2506

This brilliant settee from Wisteria!  French provincial never looked so good than dressed up with a little Louis XV grandeur then subdued by Swedish-style linen. The curvy elegance of this settee is situated atop carved cabriole legs made of distressed wood. Two pillows are included for a bit of extra comfort. Use in place of a traditional living room sofa and pair with a couple of French chairs.

Even if you don’t own a manor house in the French countryside, you can pull off the look by pairing this beauty with patinaed metals, woven chair backs and seats and gold-gilded mirrors. If you have dreams of visiting Paris one day, tide yourself over by adding a touch of French style to your home.

Carry the French theme throughout your space with additional living room furniture that compliments your heavenly settee. Here’s our picks for a fabulous room…

This one is to completely die for.  So what if the chandelier costs more than your settee…if the $3,600 price tag doesn’t fit your budget take a look at some similar items that might.

Ethan Allen may not be of French descent but he did one heck of a job fooling us with this antique-washed Kashan Rug in muted shades of soft green, khaki and terra-cotta. Get one for your room. Your feet will thank you and think they’ve just walked through a Persian garden.  Enjoy  the spoils of a perfectly-posh Parisian existence!
